Microforms: What are Microforms

Fogler Library microforms include a variety of material formats: microfilm, microfiche, aperture cards and opaque cards.  The information located on these resources is often the only information available on certain research topics.  This might include historical information from a small Maine town newspaper from the nineteenth century, or, perhaps, a research report from the Department of Energy on power generation.  URSUS, our online catalog lists the material in the collection.  You will see a statement "microform" in URSUS if the format is of this nature.  Microforms are located in the microfilm room as well as stored in staff accessible locations.  Please ask a staff member for assistance if unsure.  Equipment for viewing the information on these formats is available.  You can either print a copy or save the information to a pdf for further research.
