Libraries

There are many local libraries that you can visit, in addition to the Fogler Library on campus at UMaine. Most towns have their own library which you can visit, and you can get a library card for the library in your town. In addition, all residents of the state of Maine are eligible for a Bangor Public Library card, which also grants access to the state's database subscriptions.

Closer to UMaine are two libraries: the Orono Public Library and the Old Town Public Library, which are wonderful spots to check out books, attend lectures, or join a social group.

English Classes: Bangor Adult Education
This list of courses is available to anyone in the area, and provides English as a Second Language instruction from Beginner through Advanced.
Bangor Adult and Community Education
Bangor Adult Education provides classes from gardening to high school equivalency.
Literacy Volunteers of Bangor
The Literacy Volunteers of Bangor provide instruction on reading, writing, and speaking English. It is open to native speakers as well as people who are new to the language.
Orono-Old Town-Hampden Adult Education
Orono-Hampden-Old Town Adult Ed Partnership is a member of the Maine Adult Education association (MAEA).
