Our Mission

Our Mission

The Raymond H. Fogler Library is the designated State Research Library for Business, Science, and Technology (P. & S. 1999, ch. 33, Laws of Maine). Fogler Library serves as a resource for meeting the business, science and technology information needs of the citizens of the state of Maine. The Library serves as a portal for information resources in these areas. As such, part of the mission of the Library is to collect, evaluate, organize and disseminate business, science and technology information resources to the people of Maine.

Use of state funded subscription databases through Digital Maine Library is limited to Maine residents. Out of state access is available if you hold a valid Maine library card. You may be forwarded to a user authentication page, where you will be prompted to create a user account. Selection Criteria

Selection Criteria

Authority:

Resources authored or produced by individuals affiliated with government agencies, scholarly organizations, or professional associations.

Currency:

Materials that are up-to-date and show evidence of regular maintenance.

Content:

Resources that contain substantive content such as primary documents, reports, articles or data. 

Audience:

The primary audience consists of professionals, businesses and upper-level academics.

Format/Type:

The primary focus is on resources that are accessible via the Internet and freely available to all Maine citizens (this includes the State funded subscription databases).

Scope:

A special effort will be made to seek out and include relevant Maine-related resources
