Sustainability Email Challenge: PFAs

Day 4

Practical Tips to Minimize PFAS Exposure

  1. Check Your Water:
    • PFAS can contaminate drinking water. Use a water filter certified to remove PFAS, such as those with reverse osmosis or activated carbon technology.
  2. Avoid Nonstick Cookware:
    • Replace Teflon or similar nonstick pans with alternatives like stainless steel, cast iron, or ceramic.
  3. Watch Food Packaging:
    • Avoid fast food wrappers, microwave popcorn bags, and other grease-resistant packaging, which often contain PFAS.
  4. Choose Natural Fabrics:
    • Look for clothing, furniture, and carpets labeled PFAS-free. Waterproof or stain-resistant items may contain these chemicals.
  5. Be Mindful of Personal Care Products:
    • Some cosmetics, lotions, and sunscreens contain PFAS. Check ingredient lists and opt for PFAS-free products.

Your Action for Today

Choose one of the tips above and put it into action. Whether it’s switching to a PFAS-free product or filtering your water, small changes make a big difference.
