Recording Tips

Picture Book Guidelines

Participate in Our Picture Book Read Aloud!

1. Read the instructions below.

2. Pick a picture book to read. It might be your favorite book from when you were a child, or it might be a book you've recently come across.

3. Make sure your background is kid-friendly. Remember to remove any items that are not appropriate for children.

4. Begin recording (see recording tips on the left). Before you begin reading, you are welcome (but do not need) to introduce yourself and give a brief explanation of why you chose the book you are reading.

5. At the beginning of your recording after you read the title, author, and (if different) illustrator, please state, "I am reading this book with permission from [the publisher]." (If permission needs to be obtained we will contact the publisher.)

6. Don't forget to show the pictures! Make sure to display the book outwards so that viewers can see the illustrations. After you finish reading the text, you might hold each page up to the camera for a few seconds so that viewers can see the images up close!

7. Please read the entire book.

8. Please send your recording to Senta Sellers at, or if the file is too large to be sent via email upload to Google drive and share with Senta Sellers

9. Recordings may be posted on the Fogler Library's social media for families to enjoy.

10. That's it! Thank you!
