Immigration Challenge

Introduction

The Legal Information Institute defines asylum seekers as people traveling to a new country in the hope of receiving “a kind of protection granted by a foreign country to individuals, especially those who face persecution in their home countries because of their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.”  The Legal Information Institute also defines undocumented people as people who “live in the United States without legal immigration status.”  Today's materials discuss aspects of the lives of asylum seekers and undocumented people.
