In June 2022, in it's ruling of Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health Organization, the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe v Wade decision, finding in Dobbs that there is not a constitutionally protected right to abortion in the United States. The Dobbs decision turns the authority back to individual states, and many states have indeed already made abortion illegal. This has also resulted in controversy about crossing state lines for medical abortion procedures, or receiving medicine to end a pregnancy through the mail. The decision also brings into question a woman's right to access birth control. Protests have followed in many parts of the country.
