​Fogler Library is proud to present its Workshop Series, covering topics that support student learning and research. 

Register for the workshops by clicking on the date you'd like to attend. Registration is required for all Zoom workshops.

Graduate Student Workshops

The following hourlong workshops are intended to support Graduate students. Workshops are on Zoom, you must register to attend. Registrants will receive a copy of the Workshop recording.

Literature Reviews: Citation Management

Learn to use citation managers and save time by organizing records of articles, books, and other publications to create in-text citations and bibliographies.

Literature Reviews: Search Strategically

This workshop will cover advanced techniques to maximize database searching, including using controlled vocabulary, searching for foundational authors, and  setting alerts to keep up-to-date with new sources related to your research topic.

Literature Reviews: Citation Tracing

If you know how to find citations for articles, but don't know how to figure out if the library has access to those articles, this workshop is for you.  Learn how to locate articles in library databases based on the citations you've found, and how to find even more articles using one article as a starting place.

Worldbuilder's Library Toolkit

Please join us for a worldbuilding workshop in which librarians show you how to use databases and research tools to help build convincing worlds and systems for your fiction, your gaming table, or other creative endeavors. Click the date and time to register.

Library Scavenger Hunt

Join us this fall and check out all the cool stuff Fogler Library has to offer. We've put together an awesome scavenger hunt. It'll help you figure out how to use the library as a study spot, a hangout spot, and a treasure trove of info for your classes. Guided Tours

Banned Books: Conversations at Fogler

Heard about all the book banning around the US and in Maine this year? Join Fogler's Librarians for a guided group discussion on this topic. Snacks will be provided.

Halloweekend Event: Literary Costume Contest

This Halloween Eve join Fogler LIbrary for a Literary Costume Contest. Wear a costume based on any literary work. Vote for the best costume. The winner will receive a gift card for the University bookstore. Food provided!

This Halloween Eve Come to Fogler’s Salon to listen and talk about the supernatural in Maine. Meet Dr. Marcus LiBrizzi, the author of several works of ghostly Maine folklore, and an expert in supernatural horror fiction. Food provided!

AI Workshop Series

This workshop will be an introduction to generative AI and its use. Benefits, and pitfalls, of using these tools will also be discussed. Attendees are encouraged to create accounts in either ChatGPT or Claude prior to the workshop, as there will be hands-on activities.
