Troubleshooting Access to Online Resources: Desktop

The first line of defense in trouble-shooting access to online resources is to clear your web browser cache, cookies, and history.

Desktop IconsThe steps to clear the cache, cookies, and browsing history may differ depending on the version of your web browser. Scroll down to find your browser. If the solution offered here does not work, do a web search for "clearing cookies" followed by the name of your browser. All information current as of 08/03/2018.

Chrome Icon

 

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap the Hamburger Menu icon
  3. Select History
  4. Select the Hamburger Menu icon in the upper left corner of the screen
  5. Select Clear browsing data
  6. Select Browsing history, Cookies and other site data and Caches images and files
  7. Click Clear Data
  8. Close out then re-open the browser application

Firefox Icon

 

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap the Hamburger Menu icon
  3. Select Options from the menu
  4. Select Privacy & Security
  5. Scroll to History
  6. Select Browsing & Download History, Cookies, and Cache
  7. Set Time range drop-down to Everything
  8. Close out then re-open the browser application

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap the Ellipsis icon
  3. Select Settings from the drop-down menu
  4. Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear
  5. Select Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files
  6. Click Clear
  7. Close out then re-open the browser application

Opera icon

  1. Open Opera 
  2. Click on the Opera Menu icon in the upper left corner of the browser window
  3. Select History
  4. Select Clear browsing data
  5. Choose Browsing history, Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files
  6. Click browsing data
  7. Close out then re-open the browser application

Safari icon

 

Safari 8.0 to 10 (Mac OS)

  1. Open Safari
  2. Click Safari next to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the browser window
  3. Select Preferences
  4. In the pop-up window, select Privacy
  5. Click Remove All Website Data...
  6. Confirm Remove Now
  7. Close out then re-open the browser application
